The National School of Cybersecurity will be opened at the start of the next academic year, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, announced yesterday Tuesday Abdelhakim Djebrani, Director of Finance at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Speaking during the program “L’Invité de la rédaction” on Channel III of Algerian Radio, Mr. Djebrani assured that all human and material resources will be put in place to open this school within the deadlines required by the Head of State.
“We are in the final stretch for the opening of this institution. The Decree of creation has already been published and the human and material resources are being put in place,” said the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
A few days ago, another sector of training, that of Vocational Training and Education, also distinguished itself in this area.
Yacine Merabi stated, in fact, that his sector intended to contribute to the general policy and the national strategy of cyber-security and digitalization given their importance.
The minister declared at the opening of the national symposium on “professional training and the requirements of professions related to cybersecurity”, placed under the theme “Training for a secure digital transition” in the presence of the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi-Triki, that his sector “intends to contribute to the general policy and the national strategy of cybersecurity and digitalization, given their importance in strengthening computer systems in light of new developments in the digital domain”.
These developments, he said, “require everyone to be vigilant and to mobilize all technical means to control the different levels of cyberspace including infrastructure, programs and applications following a long-term strategy.” More recently, an awareness meeting on cyber risks and threats was organized on Monday in Algiers by the Central Directorate of Digitalization and Information Systems, with a view to strengthening the culture of cybersecurity and raising awareness among employees of the importance of adhering to IT security policies.
Held at the headquarters of the General Directorate, the meeting was chaired by the CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, in the presence of the Director General of the Information Systems Security Agency at the Ministry of National Defense, General Abdeslam Belghoul, with the participation of senior executives and directors of various operational and functional structures of Sonatrach.
On this occasion, Mr. Hachichi indicated that “cybercrime is a sensitive issue and constitutes a real threat that can affect the security and continuity of operations in Sonatrach’s industrial facilities, placing managers at the forefront of the preventive fight against these risks and threats”, emphasizing the need to “understand the challenges of cybersecurity and cyber risks to protect data, systems and networks.”
Criminals do not hesitate to steal data, blackmail or commit acts of sabotage, particularly in the current geopolitical context, hence the need for us to “redouble our vigilance and do everything possible to deal with this new type of threat, particularly through preventive and proactive measures and employee awareness,” he explained.
