Between Algeria and Vietnam, economic, commercial and scientific cooperation was further strengthened with the visit of the Vietnamese Prime Minister to Algiers. This visit was an opportunity to recall the depth of the bonds of friendship and solidarity existing between the two brother countries and peoples, as well as the history of common struggle against colonialism.
The Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, and his Vietnamese counterpart, Phạm Minh Chính, underlined this Wednesday in Algiers that this visit constitutes an important step in the development and strengthening of cooperation ties, recalling the depth of historical friendship and the common fight against colonialism.
Sifi Ghrieb also highlighted “the significant achievements” recorded by Algeria and Vietnam in their economic transformation processes, believing that this progress allows the two countries to play “a major role in development and integration within their respective geopolitical spaces”. He reaffirmed that Algeria is fully committed, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to raising bilateral cooperation to the level of a strategic partnership.
Referring to economic cooperation, Sifi Ghrieb highlighted “the significant achievements” made by the two countries in their process of economic transformation, allowing them to play “a major role in development and integration within their respective geopolitical spaces”.
He also expressed his great satisfaction with the important results resulting from the work of the 13e session of the Algerian-Vietnamese Joint Committee, held recently in Algiers, calling for accelerating the implementation of the decisions adopted.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister invited Vietnamese companies and businessmen to seize the investment opportunities offered by the major reforms undertaken in Algeria.
These statements were made during an expanded meeting of delegations from the two countries at the Abdelatif-Rahal International Conference Center, held as part of the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s official visit to Algiers. This meeting was an opportunity to sign several agreements and memorandums of understanding intended to consolidate cooperation between the two countries.
Indeed, the two parties proceeded to sign the minutes of the 13th session of the Algerian-Vietnamese Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, held on November 16 and 17, 2025, an amendment to the general protocol relating to the treatment of debts between the two countries, a memorandum of understanding between the Algerian Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning and the City and the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction, covering housing, urban planning and city development, and a cooperation agreement in the field of education.
In the economic field, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) and the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), paving the way for increased exchanges between operators of the two countries.
On the academic front, the Houari-Boumediene University of Science and Technology (USTHB) and the Institute of Posts and Telecommunications of Vietnam have signed a memorandum aimed at strengthening scientific and technological cooperation.
A letter of intent was signed between the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion and the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Commerce, aiming to further develop trade.
Furthermore, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received, yesterday at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, and the delegation accompanying him. On this occasion, the Algerian and Vietnamese delegations held extensive talks.
