The “Casa de Poubelle”, produced by the Chorfa Youth Theater Association, will be presented on Saturday July 22 generally in Bouira. The play delicately explores themes of marginalization, resilience and hope.
Written in Kabyle dialect by Quassim Younsi and directed by Daoud Daou, “Casa de Poubelle” immerses the audience in the overwhelming world of five disabled people. Marginalized by society, they found refuge in a public dump, transforming this forgotten place into an improbable haven of peace.
Beyond their disabilities and their unique life paths, these individuals forge deep and supportive bonds. They share their broken dreams, their fragile hopes and their complicit silences, creating a close-knit community that allows them to overcome the trials of everyday life. One day they discovered things that had never been found before, which changed their way of thinking.
Lasting one hour, “Casa de Poubelle” presents itself as a social comedy, delicately exploring universal themes such as marginalization, resilience and hope. The play highlights the challenges faced by people with disabilities, while celebrating their inner strength and determination to overcome obstacles.
The stage production is directed by Laoubi Smail, with Chibane Abdelghani on stage design. The music and sound are managed by Arbane Idir, the lighting by Azzouz Youcef, and the computer graphics by Larabi Arselane. The cast includes Younsi Ouassim, Merzouk Mahmoud, Laoubi Smail, Daoud Youcef, Bachouche Mayas, and Tigrine Mazigh. The piece is a rewriting of the text “El Mazbala El Fadhila” by Saudi author Abbes Al Hayek.
Author and actor in this play, Younsi Ouassim told Le Jeune Indépendant that the title “Casa De Poubelle” was chosen for “its intriguing and mysterious sound, capable of captivating and arousing the curiosity of the public”.
He hopes that “the new play will be a great success and will have the opportunity to tour. He said that “there are theater lovers, people who move despite the circumstances… who respect the art. “It’s one of the things that gives us motivation.”
Regarding the casting, Quassim Younsi specified that it was carried out via “a poster to attract the necessary actors, followed by a two-month training workshop which led to the production of this show”. This initiative is supported by the Directorate of Culture and Arts of the wilaya of Bouira, in collaboration with the Directorate of Youth and Sports of the wilaya, and with the contribution of the APC of Chorfa.
