The Minister of Mujahideen and Dependents, Mr. Laïd Rebiga, and the Minister of Veterans Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Pei Jinjia, stressed the day before yesterday in Algiers, the “depth” of Algerian-Chinese relations, highlighting the desire of the two countries to build “a mutually beneficial global strategic partnership.”
During their meeting at the ministry headquarters, Messrs. Rebiga and Jinjia highlighted the efforts of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his Chinese counterpart, Mr. Xi Jinping in favor of “a comprehensive strategic partnership between Algeria and China”, recalling that the two countries were linked by strong and solid historical relations.
In this context, Rebiga indicated that the visit of the Chinese Minister of Veterans Affairs had allowed the Chinese delegation to “learn about the work of the Mujahideen sector, particularly in terms of caring for Mujahideen and beneficiaries and preserving national memory, national history and archives.”
The two countries can realize a partnership for the exchange of experiences in the field of scientific and academic studies, historical memory, health and social care of the Mujahideen and the exchange of historical photos and documents, he said.
The minister considered that the Mujahideen were the best link between the Algerian and Chinese peoples, referring to the Mujahideen pilots, present at the meeting, who were trained by the People’s Republic of China during the War of Liberation and who had the honor of founding the Algerian air force.
For his part, the Chinese minister welcomed the fraternal relations between his country and Algeria, stressing that cooperation between the two countries “is progressing well in the direction of establishing a strategic partnership under the leadership of the presidents of the two countries.”
“We have confidence in the will of the two Presidents to strengthen cooperation in the political, economic and technological fields,” continued Mr. Jinjia, praising the efforts of the two friendly countries “in favor of world peace.” The Chinese official also praised the “major” interest that Algeria has in the Mujahideen and their beneficiaries, calling for the development of cooperation between his department and the Ministry of Mujahideen. On this occasion, the Chinese minister visited departments of the Ministry of Mujahideen, in particular that of national cartography and archives relating to the Mujahideen and the Chouhada. The two ministers also planted an Algerian-Chinese friendship tree at the headquarters of the ministry, a symbol of “the relations of friendship and brotherhood between the Algerian and Chinese peoples.”
