The Italian ambassador to France was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after words from Matteo Salvini against Emmanuel Macron deemed “unacceptable” by Paris. During a speech, the vice-president of the Council of Ministers again tackled the position of the French President, favorable to sending troops to Ukraine.

According to the Italian daily newspaper La REPUBBLICA, this invitation from the ambassador would follow the lack of response from the Palais Chigi – siege of the presidency of the Council of Ministers – as well as the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the diplomatic adviser of Emmanuel Macron and the French ambassador would have called to disavow the Northern League, which Matteo Salvini directs. The latter’s statements arise against the backdrop of Emmanuel Macron’s will to send Western troops to Ukraine. An “option”, for which the French president has regularly pleaded since February 2024, which he would have mentioned in June 2023 during a defense council and which was handed over to the table during the diplomatic sequence which opened after the meeting in Alaskimi between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. “In Brussels and Paris, there is a madman” at a meeting of the members of the “coalition of volunteers” on July 10, Emmanuel Macron had obtained the creation of a “headquarters” in Paris, for a year before a rotation with London. Beyond Matteo Salvini, the enmity between the macronist clan and the Italian government of Giorgia Meloni is of public notoriety … and not only vis-à-vis the attitude to adopt with regard to the United States of Donald Trump. In May 2023, the Head of Italian diplomacy Antonio Tajani had canceled a visit to Paris after criticism from Gérald Darmanin for the president of the Council of Ministers, considering him “unable to solve migration problems”.
