The Sonarem group and a Chadian delegation in the mines sector agreed this weekend in Algiers to prepare a memorandum of understanding, to maintain coordination through bilateral meetings and videoconferences, to develop a action plan with a clearly defined timetable. Africa and put them at the service of sustainable development of its peoples.
It was, said the same source, during a meeting held at the headquarters of the Public Sonarem group to explore the cooperation and partnership paths in the Mines field.
During this meeting which is part of the strengthening of African cooperation and the valuation of the benefits of the intra-African trade fair (IATF-2025), and which brought together Belkacem Soltani, President and CEO of Sonarem, and Chadian representatives, Tahir Saleh, Deputy Director of Customs, and Ibrahim Youssef Sahara Air Lines, continued the same source, the two parties are agreed to define the general executives of bilateral cooperation.
In particular, in its press release, the exchange of scientific and technical expertise in the field of geological research through the National Office for Geological and Mining Research (ORGM), the development of updated geological and mining cards and the launch of an Algerian-Chadian roadmap including training programs, the visit of Algerian mines and the transfer of Algerian expertise to Chad by the exchange of work missions.
During the discussions, the two parties, added the same source, also mentioned the role of the mining sector in supporting the cement industry, which will make it possible to open cooperation opportunities with Chad for the revival of cement factories, which are established there. Emphasizing the support of Chadian efforts in preparing prospective and feasibility studies aimed at assessing the economic value of mining resources and ensuring optimal exploitation, as well as the importance of opening the way to Chadian investments in Algeria, taking advantage of Algeria strengths and the competitive advantages of its mining products, thanks to the availability of energy, water and infrastructures.
For its part, the Chadian delegation praised the level of companies under the Sonarem group which operates more than 80 mines (gold, phosphate, zinc, lead, iron, marble, etc.), and their know-how, like the national company of non-ferrous mining products and useful substances (ENOF), and Algerian expertise capable, noted the same source, to contribute to the development of the mining sector Chad. Addressing, on the occasion, to the Public Sonarem group, an official invitation to visit Chad soon to take note of its mining potential and develop a global assessment allowing to identify the strengths and opportunities and to set up common practical solutions.
Note that during this visit, the experience of the Sonarem group, was reviewed, as well as its expertise in the manufacturing industry, especially in the marble sector.
