Vers un second mandat pour répondre aux aspirations de l’Algérie

Towards a second mandate to meet Algeria’s aspirations

Abdelmadjid Tebboune

The President of the Algerian Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, recently announced his decision to run for a second presidential term. This decision, which was carefully considered, comes in response to requests made by various political parties that have joined forces to support him, but especially to calls from civil society and citizens across the country’s provinces. This announcement was made during the traditional meeting with the media and the press, an opportunity for the president to answer many questions about the management of his past term and about Algeria’s political, economic and social prospects.

A response to calls
People

President Tebboune stressed that his decision to run for a second term is above all a response to the expectations and aspirations of Algerian citizens. During his travels in the wilayas, particularly in Tizi-Ouzou, he was warmly welcomed by populations known for their distrust of the various political powers that have succeeded one another in Algeria. This visit to Tizi-Ouzou was an important popularity test for the President in a region known for its often extreme positions. “This wilaya has entered a new phase of its development,” declared President Tebboune, emphasizing his listening to the expectations of the populations of Tizi-Ouzou, heirs to a wilaya of mujahideen and chouhada. “Those who try to ignore this fact cannot hide the many great names of the armed struggle against the colonizer,” he added, paying tribute to the history and resistance of the region.

A new economic dynamic
President Tebboune also spoke about the new economic dynamics that Algeria is experiencing, a dynamic recognized even by international institutions such as the IMF and the World Bank, traditionally critical of Algeria. The Head of State expressed his desire to transform Algeria into an economic power not through speeches, but through figures and concrete facts. He thus set the ambitious goal of reaching a GDP of 400 billion dollars by 2027, that is, in three years.
This bold economic project is part of the President’s efforts to overcome the resistance he described as a counter-revolution by the supporters of the old regime. According to him, the Algerian people have learned to distinguish demagogy from truth and are beginning to believe in their future.

The crucial question
housing
Abdelmadjid Tebboune was also direct and clear on the issue of housing, a topic that occupies a central place in the concerns of Algerian citizens. For him, decent housing is at the heart of human development, an area in which Algeria is an undisputed leader. The President reaffirmed his commitment to improving housing conditions for all Algerians, considering this a national priority.

Algeria on the international scene
In addition to his efforts to strengthen the economy and improve the well-being of citizens, President Tebboune stressed the importance of Algeria’s place on the international scene. The President’s visit to Italy during the G20 is an illustration of this. “We cannot be strong externally if we are not strong internally,” he said, insisting that internal strength depends on ending citizens’ accumulated resentment towards old political practices.
This attention to citizens inside the country is echoed outside, where Algerian nationals receive support when they are victims of injustice and benefit from full support for the repatriation of the deceased. President Tebboune also expressed his disapproval of the practices of exhibiting large portraits of the President, saying that this era is over and that each candidate must convince with his actions and proposals.

Overcoming resistance
and protect data
For the President, Algeria has overcome many challenges, including attempts at destabilization that he called “counter-revolution.” He denounced the famines provoked and the improvised violence, particularly in hospitals, which he described as acts of subversion aimed at weakening the country. “These are schools of subversion, and sometimes even a 5th column mobilized from abroad to destabilize and weaken our country,” he said.
A vision for Algeria
of tomorrow
President Tebboune concluded by sharing his vision for the Algeria of tomorrow, an Algeria that is respected and feared, a stable, modern and prosperous nation. “An Algeria that will have reached the salutary shore where it will be possible for any Algerian worthy of the name to consider leading this country,” he declared. This vision is based on the conviction that, despite resistance, Algeria has won its war against the counter-revolution and is ready to enter a new era of development and prosperity.
With this decision to run for a second term, Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirms his commitment to the aspirations of the Algerian people and his determination to lead the country towards a better future. A role of relay passer that he gives himself to be historically this providential man of the Algeria of tomorrow.
