In full expansion, Algerian-Vietnamese economic relations will begin a new era, which should be focused on strengthening trade and cooperation in various fields, knowing that the sectors of activity that can be the subject of a partnership are numerous, like agriculture, textiles and mining.
The 13th joint commission, which will be held from Sunday and will continue until November 20, should mark this new stage of cooperation between the two countries, which are already linked by a solid political and diplomatic relationship, based on a long historical friendship marked by solidarity, mutual support, as well as the convergence of visions on numerous international issues.
A first delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Construction of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Nguyen Tuong, was received yesterday by the Secretary General of the Minister of Industry, Kheir-Eddine Benaissa, in anticipation of the holding of this joint commission, which will constitute a platform for exchange but also an opportunity to promote partnership in various sectors of activity.
A meeting which will be enhanced by the announced visit of the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, at the end of the week. According to the deputy director of the Institute of South Asia, West Asia and Africa Studies, Kieu Thanh Nga, this visit by the Vietnamese Prime Minister is of particular importance, especially as it aims to raise cooperative relations between the two countries to a higher level. In an interview with the Vietnamese government’s online newspaper, she returned to the relations between the two countries, affirming that this visit opens “an era of deep and dynamic cooperation”.
It offers both parties the opportunity to discuss and sign new cooperation agreements, particularly in sectors where Vietnam and Algeria have complementary assets and needs, such as energy, oil and gas, agriculture, mining, agri-food and manufacturing industry, in addition to helping to create a strong political dynamic, encouraging companies from both countries to increase their investments, according to the deputy director of this Institute of Studies. To achieve these objectives, the two countries are called upon to meet certain challenges, capable of taking bilateral cooperation to higher levels.
This joint commission will thus be an opportunity to concretize the desire of the two parties to consolidate economic cooperation, in particular through the diversification of the areas of partnership as well as the increase in the level of commercial exchanges, which have already recorded a considerable increase. The volume of these trades increased significantly during the first ten months of the current year, reaching nearly 500 million dollars, thus consolidating Algeria’s position as a major economic partner of Vietnam in North Africa.
Ways to strengthen commercial cooperation between the two countries was on the agenda of the meeting which brought together, last week, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, with the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tran Quoc Khanh.
The two parties then examined the need to create an Algerian-Vietnamese business council, which will constitute the concrete framework for strengthening commercial cooperation and links between economic operators of the two countries, in addition to the organization of exhibitions of respective products in the two countries, in order to strengthen commercial exchanges and expand the areas of bilateral partnership.
The two parties also reaffirmed their desire to raise economic relations to the level of privileged political relations uniting the two countries, thus reflecting the solidity of ties between Algeria and Vietnam.
