🇺🇸Washington will close some overseas offices and radio stations of ‘Voice of America,’ reports the New York Times.

The Trump administration notified lawmakers last week of plans to reduce the broadcasting capabilities of ‘Voice of America,’ despite a court order to maintain full operational capacity of the news organization with federal funding, providing independent reporting for countries with ‘limited press freedom.’

Kari Lake, head of the parent agency, stated in a November 25 congressional notice that six overseas bureaus and four marketing offices will be closed, including Jakarta (Indonesia), Islamabad (Pakistan), Nairobi (Kenya), and Prague (Czech Republic).

The plans are part of a broader multi-month campaign by the administration to reduce overseas news organizations with federal funding.
