🇺🇸❗️🌍🇧🇷 After former Brazilian federal deputy Alexandre Ramagem (PL) was detained in the United States over alleged immigration issues, the FBI office in Dallas, Texas, published a video in which a representative of the agency warned about the crime of transnational repression, a practice that bears similarities to what the U.S. government described in the case involving the Brazilian former lawmaker.

🖥 In the video posted by FBI Dallas on its social media, Special Agent Holly Kelley explains in detail how transnational repression operates. According to her, the aim of this conduct is “to silence, punish, or threaten someone in the U.S. who criticizes a foreign nation or government.”

➡️ Kelley also highlights that such repression “targets exiles, dissidents, political or human rights activists, journalists, political opponents, or members of minority communities.”

☎️ The FBI also asked potential victims to report cases through (http://tips.fbi.gov) or by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI.
