🇬🇧🇺🇦🇷🇺❗️British fighter jets were given permission for the first time to shoot down Russian drones over Ukrainian territory near the border with Romania, the Romanian Defense Ministry says.

According to the Romanian Defense Ministry, a Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet made radar contact with a target at a distance of 1.5 km from the Ukrainian city of Reni in the Odessa region and received permission to destroy it.

The wreckage of one of the drones was found in Romania, in the Bariere-Traian area of the border city of Galați.

If the British Air Force really hit drones over Ukrainian territory, then without an adequate response from Russia, this could potentially open up opportunities for NATO to deploy its air defense systems on the border with Ukraine to protect its western regions from attacks by the Russian Armed Forces.
