JUST IN: The IDF announced that Mumen Ahmad Salameh al-Ay, a Hamas commander who held hostages captive during the war, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City on Tuesday.

According to the military, al-Ay served as a commander and aide to senior figures in Hamas’s Gaza City Brigade and was personally involved in holding hostages in the area. The IDF did not disclose the identities of the captives.

The military said al-Ay had recently been planning attacks against Israeli troops and civilians while working to rebuild Hamas’s operational capabilities, describing his activities as a systematic violation of the ceasefire.
